Have you seen anyone die of protein deficiency?
Today, I will make some myths about veganism disappear because veganism seems to be more of a meme to many rather than a topic that's to be taken seriously. There are indeed facts and logic that strongly suggest that not only you or me but all our society should go vegan.
Now that you find that statement provocative and/or questionable, then I get that. I would just ask you to first read the whole article, and then let me know how much it sucks if you think about it.
And of course, even after reading the complete article, if you doubt or disagree with the information I present here, then...... Satan will be your huge fan!
Well, that's too much to ask from him, so just let me know your opinions in the comments. With that out of the way, let's get to the most baseless arguments that annoy us, vegans.
1) Where Do You Get Your Protein?
Here's how I like to answer that question. Funny that you asked because, according to studies, vegans have higher levels of blood proteins than omnivores. That means I should be asking YOU- Where do you get YOUR protein?
And then if they are like," I don't believe you." You can be like: Where does a Gorilla/Elephant/Rhino/brontosaurus get his? Anyways thanks, I'll be sure to tell the nuts and legumes I eat that they are low in protein. They forget sometimes.
And if they ask what plants are these proteins coming from? You can tell them that plants have all the essential amino acids that can quickly meet your daily amount. However, it is denser in plant foods like nuts and legumes.
2) Even Plants Feel Pain, So You May As Well Keep Inflicting Pain To Animals. What’s The Difference?
Plants lack a central nervous system, and there is no scientific evidence that they experience suffering. Well, they may react to damage chemically, this doesn't mean they are suffering, and it's more like melanin being released when the sun hits our skin.
By the way, are you asking me because you deeply care about plants or because you want to make me wrong to justify eating your meat?
Well, let’s watch a video of mowing a lawn, and then let’s watch a video of some cows being slaughtered, and THEN we can talk about that."
3) Animals Are Way Too Different From Humans, So Killing Them For Snacks Is Just Fine.
I thought that Scientists used Guinea pigs (actually rodents) because they are too similar to humans. Did I get it wrong?
No, I didn't!
According to several studies and researches:
Rodents are an excellent research animal model because they can reproduce and analyze processes such as cancer, infectious or genetic diseases that affect human beings.
And, rodents are not the only animals used in laboratories to research and try new vaccines or drugs. In other words, scientists test it on animals because of how similar animals and humans are.
Still, someone will say that animals don’t have the slightest consciousness like us humans 😶. Let them know that The Cambridge Declaration of Consciousness had proved it wrong years back. Even "The Stephen Hawking" signed that research.
4) Vegans Are All Weak
Vegans are all weak, scrawny, protein-deprived nincompoops. All vegans have 0% muscle mass and barely have the energy to get out of bed. The only thing they have power for is turning on the computer and posting photos of the tasteless, protein-deprived foods.
Oh, do you believe this?
Yea, that's why a gorilla who eats nothing but veg is so weak and feeble. Do you know that there are vegan bodybuilders? Vegan athletes? Do some research!
How many miles can you run on a treadmill without stopping? You can also not ask Abel Trujillo; he may be thrilled to answer the question for you.
Diet and exercise go side by side. A person who exercises regularly will be stronger than one who doesn't, almost regardless of diet. Vegans being weak is just a common stereotype. Many successful vegan athletes out there, and you wouldn't know the difference between the average vegan and the meat-eater.
5) Vegan Food Tastes Bland
Oh! Is that so? All the extra stuff we use to stimulate our taste buds are vegan already, to remind you. Salts, sugar, herbs, spices, oils, flavor enhancers, and smoking aroma; It's all VEGAN.
So, if you care about that kind of taste experience, you can replace it with plants instead of those animal products.
Have you tried some south Indian dishes like Dosa or a north Indian appetizer, Samosa? The use of ingredients so fresh and natural stand out so much that you will not realize that you already forgot about meat. It’s not just that. You gotta try these Indian vegan foods.
6) Environment Tho!
The environmental argument is probably the most concrete argument that there is for veganism. Omnivores say that we are harming the environment by using plants for food that provide oxygen.
Omnivore environmentalists tell us that we are responsible for climate change because we eat plants and keep the climate safe.
This is factually wrong!
One of the most significant issues for climate change is animal agriculture. A little-known fact is that animal agriculture is responsible for more greenhouse gas emissions than the combined exhaust from all the transportation.
“Then what about fishes? We get it from seas, don’t we?”
3/4 of the world fisheries are already exploited or depleted, and we can see fishless oceans by 2048. Which will screw pretty much lives on the earth as we know it.
The environmental consequences of the production of animal-origin foods are multiplied by ten the environmental impact of vegetables.
Why is hardly anybody trying to educate the masses on how we can largely stop climate change by simply going to different aisles in supermarkets ( Plant-based food items)?
7) But Humans Evolved To Eat Meat, Right?
Omnivores usually say that they have canines meant to rip apart the flesh. Humans evolved to eat meat.
But our canines are more or less flat and utterly incapable of tearing through flesh. Furthermore, there are many herbivores with massive canines like Gorillas and Hippos. We have more herbivores traits like no claws and a crappy sense of smell.
Besides, It is not justifiable that what is natural should be moral. Take a look at lion examples that people love to bring up. People love to say, " But lions eat other animals in the wild. I mean, it's just part of the food chain. It's just a cycle of life."
But, don’t lions kill cubs and another lioness in the wild? Animals in the wild will also rape other animals. Can we justify killing kids and raping humans? That’s why one should not imitate the natural examples but think more like a human.
CONCLUSION:
Eating animal products is factually needless because vegan diets are helpful if done right and are even shown to prevent heart diseases, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and certain types of cancers among other things.
Besides, animal agriculture will doom humankind if we don’t switch to veganism or at least to vegetarianism.
I don’t recommend you to speak harshly or to disqualify someone in the argument.
We must accept the other as someone different, with more difficulties to put himself in your place, or with his own experiences that do not let him see things like you.
Winning an argument is not leaving the other silent but creating doubt or curiosity, which allows him to open his mind to issues that he had never considered before.
